What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us, said A.W. Tozer.
Asking ourselves what we believe, and why we believe it, arguably may be one of the most important questions we can continually ask ourselves throughout our lives. Our worldview and what we believe about life affects everything we do from the decisions we make, to the relationships we engage in, and how we show up to our lives.
Humanity has been hard at work trying to find the truth since the fall of man, but have we really been open to the truth? Every religion and ideology has laid claim to what they’re convinced is the answer, but has anyone really laid down their own motives and been courageous enough to let themselves be exposed to the truth?
Jesus told us, “ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7 ESV).
God said through Jeremiah, “you will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13 ESV).
Are we willing to continually lay down our motives and subject ourselves to what God has said is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)?
When it comes to the life of a human being — their identity, when their life begins, the value they hold — at Care Pregnancy Resource Center, we constantly have to subject ourselves to what God says. We go back to scriptures that tell us:
- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them (Genesis 1:27-28).
- For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well (Psalm 139:13-14).
- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him (John 3:16-17).
- The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty (Exodus 34:6-7)
Most of our clients come in not knowing who they really are, who God is, or who they are in relation to God. They’ve been searching for answers in themselves, overwhelmed by the narratives the world keeps feeding them, and here they come, empty of anything satisfying. We get the opportunity to help them ask themselves, what do you believe, and why do you believe it? In doing so, we’ve gotten to see countless people taste heaven, be touched by love and truth, and walk out differently than when they came in. Some of them have even accepted Christ into their lives and they’ve told us it’s like they’ve walked out of a dark corner and into the light.
Here’s the truth that actually changes lives: Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life — through Him do we actually get access to the Father, the answer, everything we’ve ever longed for.
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
